The Mandarin Community Club observed Veterans Day on Sunday, November 10, 2013, with a wreath laying ceremony held within the Billard Park. The program included current MCC President Emily Lisska who spoke on the origin and meaning of Veterans Day. We were very pleased and honored to have FL State Representative Charles McBurney in attendance. He addressed the meaning and importance of military service.
Our honored guest this year was veteran and MCC member Capt. Donald Wojciechowski USAF (retired). Don, assisted by his wife, Pat, placed the wreath at the Park's Veterans Memorial. Special thanks to Florida Troop 1512 of the American Heritage Girls Organization, lead by Dee Shera, for their participation in our event this year and to Don Reynolds of the NE Florida Conservatory, Mandarin, who played taps.
