On Friday, July 27, to celebrate its 95th anniversary, the Mandarin Community Club will host a silent film evening. Three films of the memorable comedian Buster Keaton have been selected and will be enhanced with live music just as audiences enjoyed at the silents of the 1920s.
The films are called “shorts” as each is about 20 minutes in length. Composer Tony Steve has written the accompanying music and will be performing along with a friend or two. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the first film will “premiere” at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. Concessions, including the 1920s favorite foot-long hot dogs, will be available at reasonable prices at the concession counter or from an usherette. Event will be at the Mandarin Community Club building, 12447 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Seating is limited, so be sure and reserve yours today with event coordinator Ellen Milligan via e-mail: [email protected]. This promises to be a fun-filled evening for all ages!!!
