The Club will host a Tree Education Program on Thursday, March 23. Doors open at 6:30 PM with the program at 7 PM. Two JEA arborists will speak on the types of trees best suited for our area, where to locate to avoid power lines, public servicesk and best practices for planting to boost their chances for healthy growth.
Utility Forester for JEA and a Certified Arborist, Joe Anderson’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the power of Jacksonville can be found in the canopy of trees and now serves as a steward of Jacksonville’s utility services and that tree canopy. The second Urban Forester from JEA will be Scott Souder. Scott manages contract tree crews on the Southside of JEA service territory. Management includes scheduling and inspecting work in order to ensure proper clearance, quality pruning, and customer relations while balancing system reliability, cost, and customer service. This program will also feature apiary (bee) specialist Rob Horsburgh, Agriculture; Consumer Protection Specialist from the Florida Department of Agriculture to discuss the vital role that bees play in the ecosystem for our food, plant life, etc., and all things related to bees. There will a door prize drawing at this program for one special attendee who will receive a large potted tree ready to plant! Comments are closed.
