Holiday promotion: All bricks ordered between now and January 1, 2019, will qualify for 3 lines of inscription for the price of 2 ($100). Support the Club, honor a loved one, an occasion, or otherwise just become a part of the park itself. Bricks can be placed in your choice of three locations: along sidewalks, the Veteran’s Memorial Monument area, or near the butterfly garden. The Mandarin Community Club will hold its annual Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of Veterans Day on Sunday, November 11.at 1 PM. The ceremony will take within the Billard Commemorative Park, 11641 Brady Road, adjacent to the Mandarin Community Club Building. Members and the public alike are invited and encouraged to attend. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors.
This is the 12th year the Club will honor our Veterans with a specific, dedicated program. The Billard Park is home to the only Veterans Memorial in all of Mandarin, something the Club is very proud of. The ceremony took place within the Billard Commemorative Park on Brady Road, adjacent to the MCC Building. The American Heritage Girls, FL troop 1512, led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance and Nicolas Elliot performed taps. Club members/Veterans Bill Walker (COL, U.S. Army, Retired) and Bob Waterston (LTC, U.S. Army, Retired) assisted Club President, Susie Scott, in the placement of the wreath. The Mandarin Community Club will hold its annual Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of Veterans Day on Sunday, November 12. Starting at 1 PM, the ceremony will take place within the Billard Commemorative Park located at 11642 Brady Road, adjacent to the MCC Building. Immediately following the Wreath Ceremony, the Club will celebrate the 10th anniversary of he Billard commemorative Park. One of the Club's three historic properties, the Park was developed and dedicated on the site of the Frederick Billard House in November of 2007. It is home to the lovely white gazebo visible from Brady Road as well as a butterfly garden and natural green space. The public is invited and encouraged to attend both of these events. There is no fee to attend either and ample, free parking is available at he MCC Building, 12447 Mandarin Road. The Mandarin Community Club observed Veterans Day with a ceremony on Sunday afternoon, November 8th. Held within the Club building, 12447 Mandarin Road, Club members and members of the Mandarin community gathered to honor and pay tribute to our veterans.
Our thanks to all who came out despite the inclement weather. Special thanks to the American Heritage Girls, FL Troop #1512, honored guest and speaker, Don Chandler, speakers Bruce Scott and Representative Charles McBurney, and Don Reynolds of the NE FL Conservatory for their participation this year. MCC President, Susie Scott, was the program's moderator. The Mandarin Community Club developed and dedicated the Billard Commemorative Park in 2007 and has held a veterans tribute in the Park every November since. Due to inclement weather, the ceremony was held indoors this year with plans for the wreath to be set in place at the Park's Veterans Monument on Veterans Day, November 11th.
