BRINGING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER – Please join us on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 4:30 p.m. in the garden of the Billard Commemorative Park. The Junior Gardeners of the Mandarin Garden Club will be planting butterfly plants in honor of Veterans Day. Susie Scott, past president of the Mandarin Community Club, will present a history of the Billard Commemorative Park and its early development. Parking is available at Mandarin Community Club (12447 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223).
For more information, contact Wanda Bosworth at 268-9807. The Nominating Committee is in the process of preparing a slate of officers and at-large board members for 2015. When presented, it will be posted here for review. Nominations will also be considered from the floor at the general membership/board meeting scheduled for November 3, 2014. The last Third Thursday Lecture Series for 2014 will take place on November 20 and will feature Ed Gamble. An award-winning cartoonist, Ed has been nationally syndicated and his cartoons have been published in newspapers and exhibits all over the United States and the world, including overseas in China and at the American Center in Karachi, Pakistan. His topic for the evening will be "Jacksonville Politics Through the Eyes of a Cartoonist!"
As with all other lectures in the series, it will be held at the Mandarin Community Club building and is sponsored jointly by the Mandarin Museum & Historical Society and Mandarin Community Club. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 PM and the program promptly at 7 PM. For further information, call 904-268-0784. The event is free and open to the public. |
