The Bumblebee Circle of the Mandarin Garden Club held a clean up day in our Billard Park at 4 p.m., March 12. Work was done to the butterfly garden and surrounding grounds including weeding, planning and mulching in preparation for the Mandarin Art Festival. Volunteers were welcomed and encouraged to help these fine young people with this service projects.

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held an official American Flag Retirement ceremony at the Mandarin Community Club the afternoon of March 9. This was the fourth year the Club has helped host this event.
Patriot Sojourner Robbie Stokes spoke on the history of our flag and the procedures involved in the official, respectful, and proper way to retire or dispose of used/worn flags. Image source: www.wamgolf.com The Club table/Prize Drawing Committee has been hard at work putting together some great prizes for this year's Festival. Among the items to be offered are tickets to the 2014 TPC golf tournament (Saturday and Sunday w/parking), a pair of tickets to a Jaguar's home game, a "Toast of the Town" package featuring gift cards from some of the area's most popular restaurants, framed art photography by Lee-Margaret Borland, and a collection of tickets for family fun adventures such as the Jacksonville Zoo and the Riverkeeper boat tours. All prizes will be on display at the Club/Prize table in from of the main building. Stop by and try your luck. Chances are $1/each with proceeds benefiting general ground maintenance including the Billard Commemorative Park. All drawings will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 20. You need not be present to win.
